Christy's Decisions

Here are some of the reasons why I made this blog the way that I did:

I thought the websites I posted could help someone during a natural disaster. They were also places that Alex visited during the book, so I incorporated them into the blog as much as I could.

I included a picture of what I imagined Manhattan to look like after the flooding and earthquakes. There is also a picture of a food line similar to what Alex and his sister had to wait in for hours.

I wanted the background to be darker colors because throughout the story, people around Alex are dying. The city is gray because of the flooding, earthquakes, debris, and pollution.

I chose the fonts thinking they matched the fonts used in the book.

Helpful Websites

Here are some websites that I thought would be helpful if this ever happened to you:

Red Cross: Red Cross has medical supplies and fresh water, so during a natural disaster this is very important.

Salvation Army: Salvation Army has clothing and other household items.  So, if you need to get warm clothing or other household items during a natural disaster, you can check here.

Homeless Shelters: If you home is destroyed in a natural disaster, you can go to this site to find your local homeless shelter for temporary housing.

Local Churches: When the disaster happened, my local church played a huge part in my survival because it also handed out food and provided shelter for people.

Local Grocery Stores: If a natural disaster happens, stock up on canned food products as fast as you can before the prices skyrocket.

Bus Tickets: If you need to leave the city, you can always try buying a bus ticket to get out of the city.

I hope you never need this information.
